Facet/Filter Descriptions

Article Category—Identifies the major groupings for the organization of site articles.  
 

Manual/Circular Type—Provides the different types of publications that we have available for your search term entered, which are Underwriting, Data, Reference, Previous Editions, and Circulars.


Manual/Circular Title—Provides the title of the manual within the Manuals Library. Please note that circulars will be titled as "Circulars."
  

Manual Section—Provides the section description of the available content based on your search term.
 

Circular Category—Provides the circular category for the available content based on your search term.
 

Market Type—Identifies if the content found is applicable to the voluntary market, assigned risk market, or applicable to both markets.  
 

State—Identifies the jurisdiction state that the content found is applicable to.

Article Descriptions

About NCCI—Contains a variety of information about NCCI, ranging from the simple documents usually included in press kits to the more detailed Annual Report and Issues Report.
 

Services & Tools—A complete listing of underwriting resources, data tools, residual market information, or other NCCI resources for workers compensation professionals.
 

Industry Information—A wealth of resources about the workers compensation industry, which contains NCCI’s comprehensive Research and Outlook section for in-depth studies and analyses of the workers compensation market.
 

Data Reporting—A variety of resources to help data reporters submit timely and accurate data. Learn about the different types of data—including Policy and Proof of Coverage Data, Unit Statistical Data, Financial Data, Detailed Claim Information, Medical Data, Noncompliance Data, and Pool Data.
 

Residual Markets—A comprehensive portfolio of residual market resources on ncci.com. Provides specific information for employers and producers, and an avenue to learn what programs and services NCCI is developing for servicing carriers and the residual market.
 

Events—Listing of NCCI-sponsored events for workers compensation professionals, including the Annual Issues Symposium, Data Reporting Workshops, Assigned Carrier Conference, Open Houses, and State Advisory Forums at various locations.
 

Training—Web-based training designed to enhance workers compensation knowledge. Online training modules covers the fundamentals of workers compensation.

Manual/Circular Type Descriptions

Underwriting—Manuals that contain rules and regulations for writing workers compensation. These manuals include: Basic Manual, Experience Rating Plan Manual, and Scopes® Manual.  
 

Data—Manuals that contain data reporting requirements and information to submit policy, unit, financial call, or medical data to NCCI. These manuals include: Statistical Plan Manual, Detailed Claim Information Reporting Guidebook, and Medical Data Call Reporting Guidebook, Reporting Guidebook for the Annual Calls, and Policy Data Reporting Manual.  
 

Reference—Manuals that contain statistical, reference, and procedural information for workers compensation. These manuals include: Annual Statistical Bulletin, Filing Guide for Rates and Forms, and Tax and Assessment Directory.
 

Previous Editions—Contains manuals from the above manual types that may still be in effect but have a newer edition available.
 

Circulars—Contains information on vital trends, events, and issues affecting the workers compensation marketplace.

 

Manual Section

Classifications—Describes the classification sections in the Basic Manual and Scopes® Manual.
 

Examples—Describes sections in the User Guides that provide examples of our rules or the data manuals where the sections provide examples of how to report data.
 

Forms—Describes the forms in the Forms Manual or Filing Guide for Rates and Forms.
 

Overview—Describes the sections of the manuals that gives a description of the manual (Preface) or describes the exhibits in the Annual Statistical Bulletin.  

 

Pool—Residual Market rules.
 

Plan—Residual Market rules.
 

Procedures—Instructions to follow when reporting data to NCCI or how to fill out forms that will need to be submitted.  
 

Programs—Describes the different programs available such as Merit Rating, CCPAP, ADQIP, Small Deductible Programs, Managed Care, etc.
 

Rates and Loss Costs—Describes the Rates and Loss Costs PDF section of the manuals.
 

Rating Values—Describes the ELRs, D ratios, and retro rating values included in the Experience Rating Plan Manual and Retrospective Rating Plan Manual.
 

Record Layouts—Describes the different layouts available to report data to NCCI in our Data Manuals.
 

Reference Info—Describes the information available in the Appendix section of the manuals.
 

Reporting Requirements—Detailed information on what is required to satisfy the data reporting requirements to NCCI for servicing carriers or data reporters.
 

Rules—Filings that have been approved nationally or by individual states, e.g., Part 1—Rules of the Basic Manual.
 

Schedules—Describes the section of the data manuals that gives the user the schedule for reporting data to NCCI—Schedules for Forms and Operations.  
 

Statistics—Describes the content available in our Annual Statistical Bulletin.
 

Statistical Codes—Describes sections in our data manuals that list our statistical codes that are subject to experience rating, not subject to experience rating, and Not Part of Standard Premium.   
 

Tables—Describes the different tables that we have available in our manuals, e.g., pension tables, limits of liability tables, hazard group tables, etc.
 

Updates—Describes the Change Tracking Guide section within each manual that provides the most recent updates made to that manual.  
 

Work Flow—Describes the different work flow steps contained in our Reporting Guidebook for the Annual Calls.

Circulars Descriptions

Countrywide Information—Provides information that is applicable on a countrywide basis.
 

Data Reporting—Includes topics that announce important information necessary for reporting timely and quality policy, unit statistical, and other data.
 

Circulars that also fall under this category are:

Item Filing Circulars—Provide information for a national or state item filing that has been submitted to state regulators.

Legislative Circulars—Provide a weekly or monthly summary of significant legislative and judicial activity impacting the workers compensation system.

 

Circulars that fall under this category are:

Loss Costs or Rate Filing Circulars—Provide information that NCCI submits to most state regulators. These circulars can also confirm an approval or explain changes made by the regulator. Filing circulars are not available for every state.

Plan/Pool Information—Provides information on residual markets workers compensation procedures and changes that affect a state or approved item filings.
 

State Information—Provides details on state-specific filings, rule changes, procedures, and relevant issues affecting workers compensation in a given state.
 

State Reporting Information—Provides details on state-statistical filings, rule changes, and/or procedures for data reporting of workers compensation in a given state.
 

Statistical Circulars—Provide information about a national or state item filing for reporting workers compensation data.

Circulars that also fall under this category are:

Status of Item Filings—Contain national item and state filing approvals, disapprovals, withdrawals, etc., that have been filed with regulators.
    

Status of Rate Revisions—Weekly listings of loss cost and rate filing activity on a state-by-state basis, including premium changes that are filed, insurance department decisions, hearings, appeals and pending filings for all NCCI states.

 

Market Type Descriptions

Voluntary—Identifies manual sections that contain rules or information for an insured who is able to obtain coverage through insurance companies.


Assigned Risk—Identifies manual sections that contain rules or information for an insured who cannot obtain coverage in a regular voluntary market and obtains coverage through a state-assigned risk Plan or Pool.
 

Both Markets—Identifies manual sections that apply to both the voluntary and assigned risk markets.
