Annual Insights Symposium 2026 is clear: results can vary across industries and states.
This article underscores the meaningful differences in claim frequency within specific industries or states/jurisdictions where the injury occurs.
Industry Insights:
- Since 2021, most industries have experienced average annual declines in frequency of at least 5%. More moderate changes are observed in three industries—Health Care, Office, and Private Education—where 2023–2024p frequency changes are flat.
- Frequency in these three industries is not declining as much as other industries and the “why” varies:
State/Jurisdiction Insights
- DC and NV are the only jurisdictions showing increasing overall frequency trends since 2021.
- While HI, DC, NV, and FL have greater than 10% of their market share in Leisure & Hospitality (L&H), only DC and NV have experienced increases in both overall frequency and L&H frequency. As a result, L&H could be a significant driver of the overall frequency increases for these two jurisdictions.
Looking Ahead
While there are instances of frequency increasing within a particular industry or a state, NCCI is not seeing a systematic turn in frequency overall.
