Our Actuarial & Economic Services Team

The Actuarial & Economic Services (AES) Team is staffed by varied experts with knowledge of the workers compensation industry. The following practice areas allow actuaries, economists, and data scientists to apply specific experiences and interests to provide the workers compensation industry with data-driven insights:

Research & Analytics


Employs statistical analyses in tandem with actuarial research to visualize, evaluate, and explain workers compensation trends.

Operations & Communications

Produces actuarial as well as economic information products for the benefit of the industry; oversees operational aspects, such as prioritization tools and systems for the team, and assists with training.


Ratemaking & Data Quality


Develops objective and adequate rate/loss cost recommendations that are filed with state insurance regulators for review and approval as well as managing data quality related to filings, and AES products and services.

Reserving & Legislative Analysis

Develops quarterly Residual Market Pool loss reserves, administers the Reserving Committee, provides objective reform evaluation by analyzing state and federal legislation and medical fee schedule changes for potential impacts on workers compensation costs.
