Data Certification Counts
Certification and recertification is a necessary step in reporting accurate and timely data to NCCI. Check out this
article for more information on this crucial process that ensures the quality and accuracy of data.
Topics covered include:
Purpose of Data Certification: Data certification is necessary to validate the integrity of data before it is used in NCCI’s products and services. It ensures that the data meets specific standards and requirements.
Certification Process: Data providers submit test files for NCCI to review the data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Once the data passes certification, the provider is approved to submit data into NCCI’s production system.
Data Types Subject to Electronic Certification and Recertification: These include Policy Data, Unit Statistical Data, the Indemnity Data Call, and the Medical Data Call.
Impact of System Changes: When a data provider implements system changes that impact data, NCCI must be notified to determine if recertification is required. This step ensures that system changes that impact data files continue to meet standards and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
Data Certification Resources by Data Type: A convenient resource chart, by data type, provides Reporting Resource links to assist with data submission, the available data tools available, and related webinars providing data type specific education.
Use the resources shown here to ensure that your data meets NCCI’s reporting requirements and is accurate and of the highest quality.
Get Ready for Indemnity and Medical Data Call Reporting
In March, NCCI announced the expansion of Indemnity and Medical Data Call participation from at least 1% market share in any one applicable state over the most recent three years (overall average equals 1% or more) to at least .5% market share in any one applicable state over the most recent three years (overall average equals .5% or more).
Changes to the participation eligibility percentage threshold means we have new data reporters. A letter went out, and the identified qualifying reporters will be required to report data as follows:
Indemnity Data Call
Medical Data Call
To prepare, data reporters must go through a three-step certification process: setup, testing, and approval.
