Dan Nelson, State Relations Executive, is responsible for NCCI’s regulatory and legislative affairs, including rate/loss cost filings, legislative pricings, rule and form filings, appeals mechanisms, and residual market issues.
Prior to joining NCCI in 2019, Mr. Nelson was assistant director at the South Dakota Division of Insurance. He participated on several National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) working groups and task forces during his time with the division. Prior to that, he worked for Berkley Risk Administrators for 31 years. During his tenure with Berkley, he oversaw the management of residual market programs in 10 different states.
Mr. Nelson graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA degree in statistics with a minor in mathematics. He is also designated as a Market Conduct Manager (MCM) and a Workers Compensation Professional (WCP).
