Steven J. Sibner is the general counsel, Chief Legal officer, and corporate secretary of NCCI. He oversees the Legal Division at NCCI, advises the executive team and board of directors, and oversees the governance and compliance activities of the organization. He joined the NCCI Legal Team in 1995 and has expertise in workers compensation, corporate, regulatory, antitrust, and employment and benefits law matters. In 2000, he transferred into the company’s business operations, where he was the director of Affiliate Services, managing staff responsible for NCCI’s relationships with its member insurance companies. Later, he returned to the Legal Division and took on an additional role as NCCI’s compliance official.
Before coming to NCCI, Mr. Sibner was in private law practice in Connecticut where he represented public and private corporations, healthcare institutions, municipalities, and boards of education. Mr. Sibner earned a BS in business administration and economics from Pennsylvania State University, and his JD at the American University, Washington College of Law, in Washington, DC. He is a member of the Connecticut and Florida Bars. He is also a graduate of the leadership programs for the cities of Bridgeport, CT, and Boca Raton, FL. Mr. Sibner currently serves on the board of the American Society of Workers’ Compensation Professionals (AMCOMP) and previously served on the board of the Association of Corporate Counsel, South Florida Chapter, as its president. Mr. Sibner achieved the NACD Directorship Certification® from the National Association of Corporate Directors.
