As of this writing, the world is facing unprecedented challenges presented by the pandemic COVID-19. On behalf of everyone at NCCI, we extend our sympathy to all of those impacted, especially those struggling with the health of loved ones, and those who have lost employment. As well, we thank those essential employees on the front lines for their sacrifice to see that others have the care and services they need.
From the beginning of our response to COVID-19, our guiding principles have been to prioritize the health and well-being of our employees, and to deliver uninterrupted, high-quality service to our stakeholders. I am extremely proud of our team for their efforts over these last several weeks.
Each year at NCCI we focus on meeting our commitments for today, while preparing for the needs of tomorrow. I’m pleased to relay our progress on both fronts as we look to the decade ahead.
Today
I’m proud to say we met each of our corporate objectives in 2019 for rate adequacy, data availability, customer satisfaction, residual market performance, and more.
And I’m very proud that we have done these things in a cost-conscious manner, nearly $2 million under budget, to minimize our burden to the industry. Our goal is for the
value of what we do to outweigh the cost. As a stakeholder of ours, I hope you feel that in everything we deliver.
For our community, we put in the time and effort to impact the charitable organizations where we work and live. This is a big part of why people tell me they love working at NCCI.
Tomorrow
At this year’s
AIS Virtual, I spoke of the key questions to ask about the decade ahead. Topics included healthcare, industry trends, technology, and the like. And, of course, we talked about the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on us as individuals and as an industry.
And I presented our “word” for 2020—Vigilance. This word evokes a sense of devoted attentiveness to the things most important to the well-being of our workers compensation system such as rate adequacy, modernized solutions, and injured worker advocacy.
NCCI takes up this call-to-action every day.
- We are
vigilant in delivering business-critical insights to you, leveraging sophisticated analytics by tapping into the largest database in the industry
- We are
vigilant in our quest to deliver modern solutions through
NCCI’s Atlas Initiative, transforming over 100 years of content to streamline access to information critical to your decision making
- And we are
vigilant in putting to rest the stigma associated with workers compensation, replacing it with a reputation for caring for injured workers and their families
For this last item—our reputation—I am extremely confident we can get there. I hear it every time I meet with carriers, with regulators, and with other stakeholders of the workers compensation system. These are people who care deeply about doing the right thing and delivering a fair and healthy system.
I invite you to listen to the stories of four of your industry colleagues who demonstrate this vigilance every day in this
video I shared at
AIS Virtual. They inspire me and I hope they do the same for you.
