Policy—Mid-Term Address Changes
Have you ever wondered how to use the Policy Change Effective Date and Policy Change Expiration date to make changes to a name or an address mid-term? The following example shows how the
Policy Data Collection (PDC) tool processes these changes.
Original Policy—Submitted with two names linked to two addresses:
- ABC CO at 1 Main Street, Boca Raton, FL (Address Type Code 1—Mailing Address of Insured)
- XYZ CO at 3 Elm Street, Boca Raton, FL (Address Type Code 2—Location of Operation)
- Policy Effective Date 01/01/19
- Policy Expiration Date 01/01/20
Address Change Mid-Term:
ABC CO mailing address changes from 1 Main Street to 2 Second Ave., effective 06/01/19:
Edit the Mailing Address of the Insured and enter the effective date of the change (06/01/19) in the Pol Chng Eff Dt field.
Note:
PDC will prevent you from deleting the Mailing Address of the Insured.
Once the change is submitted, the address effective and expiration dates are set appropriately:
New Location Mid-Term:
ABC CO is adding a new location, 4 Maple Dr, Boca Raton FL, effective 07/01/19. Using
PDC:
- Select Add Address
- Enter the new location and enter 07/01/19 in the Pol Chng EFF Dt field. This will set the appropriate effective date for this address:
Using the Policy Change Effective Date and Policy Change Expiration Date appropriately can help mitigate address reporting issues for the POC process.
Unit Statistical—Enhancements to the Editing Process
In 2019, NCCI posted several updates to the Unit Statistical Edit Matrix and the Unit Statistical Validation Matrix. This was the result of enhancements to the editing process for unit validation edits.
Previously, NCCI would conduct tests for countrywide and state validation post-submission of data. We have enhanced the editing process to convert these tests to validation edits.
The expanded information is displayed in the enhanced Unit Submission Results Report as shown below:
Specifications of the reports have not changed except for column heading and the addition of the suspect conditions.
Your experience of responding to unit validation suspect conditions is now streamlined and more efficient, thanks to the enhanced process and new functions. Upon submission of data, validation suspect conditions will be identified and displayed in the same data reports you receive today to correct traditional edits, as well as in the
Unit Data Collection tool.
